Brief Biography:
At the
University of
California,
San Francisco, Schmidt earned a doctor of dental surgery degree, a medical degree and a Ph.D. in oral biology. During his studies, Schmidt was elected to Omicron Kappa Upsilon (the national dental honor society), as well as, Alpha Omega Alpha (the national medical honor society). He completed his residency training in general surgery and oral and maxillofacial surgery at
UCSF
Medical
Center, followed by a fellowship in head and neck cancer at
Legacy
Emanuel
Hospital and
Health
Center in
Portland, Oregon. He is currently an Associate Professor, the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Residency Program Director and the Oral and Maxillofacial Oncology Fellowship Director. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is also the principal investigator of several research studies on oral cancer.
