Patients Seen:
This Center evaluates and treats patients requiring dental implants as part of their treatment. Evaluation is carried out in a multidisciplinary environment, which includes prosthodontic involvement. Patients can be referred or self-referred. The facility offers a range of different implant systems and ancillary procedures including hard and soft tissue grafting. Surgery is carried out in the adjacent free-standing Surgery Center, which is accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care, Inc. (AAAHC). State of the art cone beam CT scanning and computer analysis is available to evaluate implant placement.
Implant Coordinator:
All questions regarding implants, including appointments and finacial counseling, should be addressed to the implant coordinator at 415-476-3021.
Insurance:
Dental implants and associated procedures are not normally covered by any medical or dental insurance, and treatment is carried out on a fee for service basis. Visa and Master Card are accepted.

- Anatomical studies of the lingual nerve, buccal branch of the facial nerve and nasolabial folds
- Biological behavior of salivary gland tumors
Brief Biography:
Tony Pogrel received his dental degree from Liverpool University in England and his medical degree from Aberdeen University in Scotland. He received his general surgery training in Great Britain and his oral and maxillofacial surgery training in Great Britain, Holland and Miami, Florida. He joined the full-time faculty of the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of California, San Francisco in 1983. He is currently Professor and Chair of the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery with a joint appointment in the Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery in the Department of Surgery. He holds California dental and medical licenses, is a fellow of both the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and the American College of Surgeons, and is board certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.

Brief Biography:
Brian Bast received his dental degree from Harvard School of Dental Medicine in Boston and his medical degree from University of California, San Francisco. He recieved his oral and maxillofacial surgery training at UCSF, Oral and Maxillofacial Sugery. Dr. Bast joined the Maxillofacial Surgery Department at UCSF in 2002.

Brief Biography:
Mehran Hossaini-Zadeh received his dental degree from Oregon Health Sciences University, Portland, OR. St. Mary's Hospital, Waterbury, CT, and St. Francis Hospital in Hartford, CT, is where he recieve his GPR training. He recieved his Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery training at the Brooklyn Hospital Center. Dr. Hossaini holds a dental licencse both in California and Pennsylvania. Dr. Hossaini is also board certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.

Janice Lee received her dental degree from University of California, Los Angeles and her medical degree from Harvard School of Medicine, Boston. Janice got her OMFS training at Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston. Janice Lee also did a 2 yr NIH Craniofacial Fellowship in Bethesda, MD. Dr. Lee joined the full-time faculty of the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at UCSF in 2002.
